This role will typically work a 12:00pm to 8:00pm shift; however, some flexibility is required to cover alternative hours as needed.The Benefits- Salary of £30,000 per annum- Benefits packageThis is a fantastic opportunity for a maintenance professional with skills in plumbing, electrics, joinery or decorating to join our esteemed organisation.Your contributions will be largely emphasised as you take the lead in maintaining exceptional standards, ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment where students, staff, and visitors can thrive.Whats more, you will discover a role that offers plenty of variety, allowing you to develop your expertise across a range of facility maintenance tasks in a truly unique setting.So, if you want to step into a role where your skills will make a visible difference every day, read on and apply today!The RoleAs a Facilities and Maintenance Operative, you will oversee the security, functionality, and general upkeep of the Aga Khan Centre and its surrounding areas.Specifically, you will carry out scheduled maintenance and compliance checks, ensuring that all aspects of the facility adhere to the highest standards.Working alongside contractors and internal teams, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the building, maintaining a clean, safe and well-managed environment while adhering to health and safety requirements.Additionally, you will:- Carry out basic electrical, plumbing and furniture repairs- Inspect and maintain ladders and working-at-height equipment- Carry out weekly fire alarm tests and assist with evacuation procedures- Monitor and replenish stock levels of essential consumables and equipment- Conduct regular building inspections- Record and submit meter readings for the Aga Khan Centre and tenants- Undertake painting, decorating, flooring, ceiling, and wall repairsAbout YouTo be considered as a Facilities and Maintenance Operative, you will need:- Experience in a similar facilities, maintenance or building services role- Experience working with mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems- Strong customer service and communication skills- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team- A proactive and flexible approach- Basic IT skills- The ability to follow procedures, regulations and technical guidancePlease note, this role may involve heavy lifting.Please note, you must have the right to work in the UK to be considered for this role.The closing date for this role is 31st May 2026.Other organisations may call this role Facilities Technician, Maintenance Assistant, Building Maintenance Operative, or Property Maintenance Technician.Webrecruit and the Aga Khan Foundation are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment.
