To help us achieve our ambition, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Marine Head of Technical Solutions to join our leadership team and help drive our mission forward. This senior role will be pivotal in shaping NatPower Marine's growing portfolio of projects across the UK and internationally.

Wider NatPower Team

The role will support various teams across the NatPower. The wider NatPower team is managing the development of renewable generation and BESS projects and will be directly assisting you with: preparing and managing grid applications, engaging and managing power utility operators, land accusation, planning process, commercial negotiations and pipeline development.

The Role

We're looking for a multi-skilled senior leader with broad experience in technical solutions across the marine, energy, and power sectors. This role sits within NatPower Marine and will evolve as we grow in the UK and globally. The focus is on leading the technical strategy and delivery for onboard fleet systems, including vessel electrification, onboard energy management, and integration with shore-side infrastructure.

You'll be responsible for overseeing the technical performance, compliance, and innovation across our fleet, ensuring systems are future-proofed for decarbonisation and aligned with global marine standards.

We expect the successful candidate to have:

Role Accountabilities:

* Lead the technical strategy for onboard fleet systems, including electrification, energy efficiency, and compliance.
* Manage the supply chain and determine optimal contracting structures for onboard system upgrades and new installations.
* Support commercial teams with technical input during customer engagements and contract negotiations.
* Oversee the design, procurement, and delivery of onboard systems, working closely with project managers and technical teams.
* Collaborate with shore-side teams to ensure seamless integration between onboard and port infrastructure.
* Contribute to budgeting, planning, and strategic development of fleet operations.
* Represent NatPower Marine in global forums and stakeholder meetings, with some international travel expected.

Key Experience & Skills Required

* Strong background in onboard vessel systems, including power generation, distribution, propulsion, and energy storage.
* Experience in fleet electrification, hybrid systems, and integration with shore power.
* Proven track record in procurement strategies for marine systems (O&M, EPC, EPCI, Tier 1, etc.).
* Familiarity with marine safety and technical standards across design, construction, and operation phases.
* Stakeholder engagement with shipping operators, classification societies, regulators, OEMs, and engineering consultants.
* Understanding of global marine regulations and trends, including IMO decarbonisation targets and electrification initiatives.
* Experience in project development or delivery involving onboard systems, vessel retrofits, or new builds.
* Ability to lead internal teams and external consultants in delivering onboard technical solutions.

Essential:

* Entrepreneurial mindset with 10–15+ years' experience in marine technical design or delivery.
* Deep understanding of vessel power systems, energy storage, and electrification technologies.
* Strong leadership and project management skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
* Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.
* Willingness to travel and engage with international partners.
* Experience in renewable energy integration onboard is a plus.
* Ability to write technical specifications (mechanically and electrically) for shore power equipment (IEC/IEEE 80005 standard)
