About the role Maintenance Technicians play a key role in helping people live safely and independently in their homes. You’ll carry out a range of minor repairs and home adaptations, ensuring properties are safe, accessible, and fit for purpose. This is a mobile, hands-on role offering variety, autonomy, and the chance to make a real difference in your community. You’ll report to the Head of Customer Support & HP Service and Customer Service Deputy and work closely with the Customer Service team to deliver a seamless, responsive service for customers. What you’ll be doing Carrying out a daily schedule of home repairs and adaptations, aiming for first-time fixes Installing and fitting adaptations (e.g. grab rails, key safes, shower seats, stair rails, furniture raisers) Completing basic plumbing, carpentry, and fixture work (e.g. taps, toilets, doors, shelves, blinds, gates) Conducting small surveys, taking measurements, photos, and notes Maintaining accurate electronic job records, including materials used and completed work Ensuring all work is completed safely, cleanly, and to a high standard Liaising with customers, carers, and colleagues to ensure the right outcomes Supporting stock control by collecting materials and keeping your van equipped Contributing ideas to improve service delivery. Full Job Description and Person Specification can be downloaded here: Maintenance Tec JD_2025.pdf What we are looking for Proven experience in general home maintenance and minor repairs, with skills in at least two areas such as basic plumbing, carpentry, fixtures/fittings, adaptations, or small outdoor repairs (domestic or social housing experience preferred) Strong understanding and commitment to health and safety when working in people’s homes, with a focus on maintaining clean, safe working environments Experience working independently, managing a daily workload, and keeping accurate electronic records (including photos, notes, measurements, and materials used) Ability to carry out basic surveys, take measurements, provide simple estimates, and use smartphones/tablets for job management and reporting Customer-focused, reliable and self-motivated, with a respectful, person-centred approach and a full UK driving licence.
