Pupil Engagement Coach – Northumberland (Blyth)
Milk Education are looking for a passionate Pupil Engagement Coach to join an amazing team of staff working with 11-16 year olds who have Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs. This education provision provides inclusive and personalised education that meets individual needs and aspirations.
Monday-Friday: 8:30-3:30pm
Responsibilities & Duties:
1. Build positive and trusting relationships with students who are struggling to attend or engage due to emotional or social difficulties.
2. Support students with emotional-based school avoidance in returning to and remaining engaged with learning, both within school and through carefully planned reintegration strategies.
3. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies to develop effective strategies that address barriers to engagement.
4. Provide both academic mentoring and wellbeing support to help students build self-belief, resilience, and motivation.
5. Promote positive attitudes to learning, helping students develop strategies to manage anxiety and maintain focus.
6. Support classroom teachers to create inclusive and nurturing learning environments that meet the needs of vulnerable learners.
Pupil Engagement Coach – Requirements:
7. Proven experience supporting young people with emotional, behavioural, or social challenges—particularly students with EBSA or low attendance. (Desirable)
8. A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students with complex emotional needs.
9. The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals.
10. Excellent organisational skills and the confidence to work independently when needed.
11. A genuine commitment to helping every child achieve and thrive, regardless of their starting point.
