Location: Welshpool, Mid Wales
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Pay: £15.59 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a Water Quality Technician to support environmental monitoring across rivers and streams throughout Mid Wales.
This is a varied field-based role where you will contribute to both water quality testing and ecological surveys, including electrofishing, helping to protect and improve the natural environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for collecting water samples from rivers and streams, carrying out testing, and recording accurate data to support environmental monitoring. Alongside this, you will also assist with electrofishing activities as part of wider ecological surveys. You will travel to different sites across Mid Wales and work independently for much of the time.
While you won’t be entering the water, the role does require confidence in and around water and the ability to work safely in outdoor environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Collect water samples from designated locations.
* Carry out water quality testing and record findings accurately.
* Assist with and carry out electrofishing surveys where required.
* Travel to sites across Mid Wales using a company vehicle.
* Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
* Work independently while managing your own workload.
About You
* Full UK driving licence is essential.
* Enjoy working outdoors and comfortable in all weather conditions.
* Practical and hands on approach.
* Confident working alone.
* Strong swimmer.
* Good attention to detail.
Desirable
* Previous experience with electrofishing or ecological surveys.
* Experience in water quality testing or environmental monitoring.
* Relevant qualifications or knowledge in environmental science or similar.
