Job Description
At WSP you will join a large, highly experienced and friendly Ecology and Arboriculture team working on a diverse range of projects across the UK. You will be involved in site‑based surveys, assessments, measurements and monitoring in relation to BS5837:2012 and tree hazard assessments, and contribute to technical reports and feasibility studies.
Responsibilities
* Provide support to the Principal and Senior Consultant.
* Conduct site‑based surveys, assessments, measurements, inspections and monitoring in relation to BS5837:2012 and tree hazard assessments.
* Collate and interpret arboricultural information from desk studies.
* Prepare technical reports and feasibility studies, inputting into arboricultural impact assessments and method statements.
* Liaise with design team to develop mitigation solutions.
* Analyse data and manage projects.
* Support senior and junior team members.
* Work on NSIP / DCO projects preparing technical reports and feasibility studies.
* Manage tight deadlines and deliver high quality work.
* Support project pricing for small sites.
* Assist in recruitment when asked.
* Encourage junior team members to develop their careers.
Qualifications
* Enthusiasm for arboriculture and willingness to learn.
* Level 3 qualification in arboriculture or a related field.
* Professional Tree Inspector (PTI) certificate.
* Experience as an arboriculture consultant and/or local authority tree officer or similar.
* Experience in arboriculture surveys using digital data capture.
* Experience producing high‑quality technical arboriculture reports for planning applications.
* Ability to work in a pragmatic team of arboricultural, landscape and environmental professionals.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and arboricultural survey methodologies.
* Flexibility to travel and work away from home within the UK regularly.
* Desire to develop core arboriculture and consultancy skills.
* Positive health and safety approach and understanding.
* Professional conduct and integrity.
