Digital Transformation Engineer – KTP Associate – IPC Mouldings
Through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Programme, IPC Mouldings, in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast, offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated graduate in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or Data Analytics to work on a project driving digital transformation. The focus is on advanced forecasting, scheduling, and integration of operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and meet customer demands, establishing the company as a leader in smart manufacturing.
This company-based role is delivered in collaboration with the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMIC) at Queen’s.
The successful candidate will lead change initiatives at IPC Mouldings, a provider of injection-moulded parts and assemblies for demanding applications in aircraft interiors.
IPC Mouldings specializes in delivering low volume, highly complex products for a global OEM, including components like table latches, seat trims, armrests, and endbays used in aircraft worldwide, manufactured in Carrickfergus.
This role offers significant autonomy, with direct access to senior leadership, fostering continuous learning and innovation.
Essential Criteria:
1. Honours Degree in Computer/Data Science, AI Systems, Data Analytics, or relevant Engineering subject (minimum 2.1, or 2.2 with higher degree), obtained or expected by July 2025.
2. Relevant research or project experience in digital transformation or forecasting/scheduling.
3. Experience in data modelling, programming, and data visualisation.
4. Proven experience in data analytics.
5. Knowledge of systems integration and automation tools like Power Platform.
6. Understanding of Machine Learning and AI technologies.
7. Ability to apply experience to the role.
8. Logical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
9. Strong numeracy and data interpretation skills.
10. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
11. High IT proficiency.
12. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
13. Enthusiasm for research and project work.
14. Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines.
15. Interest in long-term employment with the company.
16. Willingness to participate in management courses requiring travel.
17. Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
18. Availability to attend work at IPC Mouldings and other locations.

2. Work experience in manufacturing.
3. Experience in digital transformation within industry.
4. Experience with ERP, MES, or scheduling tools.
5. Knowledge of digital data capture technologies.

The role involves leading key project stages, including data integration, model development, system deployment, and continuous improvement, supported by academic experts and based at Carrickfergus.
