Role: Lecturer – Public Services

Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary from £31,930 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Public Services to join our Sport, Public Service and Travel department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

* Planning & Preparation – Design relevant learning programmes, lessons, and resources tailored to learners’ needs, including planning for work experience and ensuring full syllabus coverage.
* Classroom Management & Delivery – Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment, manage behaviour, and deliver structured, differentiated lessons that encourage active participation and progression.
* Assessment & Feedback – Conduct initial assessments, set and mark assignments, maintain accurate records, and provide constructive feedback to support learner development and achievement.
* Professional Duties & Collaboration – Participate in team meetings, contribute to course development and quality improvement, manage administrative and pastoral responsibilities, and support promotional activities.
* Values & Continuous Development – Embrace professional development, maintain awareness of sector developments, promote equality and safeguarding, and uphold a healthy work-life balance while meeting role expectations.

About you:

* Qualifications & Industry Expertise – Holds or is working towards a teaching qualification (QTLS), Assessor Award, and Level 3+ in maths or English. Brings up-to-date vocational skills and relevant industry experience.
* Teaching Skills & Versatility – Minimum of 3 years’ teaching experience with the ability to deliver across various vocational areas and learner levels using diverse teaching methods and technologies.
* Communication & Presentation – Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and engage learners in both practical and theoretical settings.
* Quality & Problem Solving – Confident in applying quality assurance systems, analysing data, solving problems in practical sessions, and ensuring smooth delivery in a target-driven environment.
* Professionalism & Development – A reflective practitioner committed to continuous professional development, health and safety, teamwork, and maintaining high standards in organisation and time management.
