Key Responsibilities
Skin Cancer Expertise
* Lead clinical care for patients with skin cancers, including melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and basal cell carcinoma.
* Perform skin assessments, biopsies, and minor surgical procedures.
* Act as a key worker for patients undergoing complex treatment or psychological support needs.
Teledermatology Leadership
* Champion the use of teledermatology platforms to triage, assess, and manage skin cancer referrals.
* Collaborate with GPs and community teams to support remote diagnosis and reduce waiting times.
* Provide virtual consultations and follow‑ups, ensuring continuity of care and patient safety.
Education & Service Development
* Mentor dermatology nurses and junior staff in skin cancer and teledermatology practices.
* Lead quality improvement initiatives and contribute to service redesign.
* Deliver training sessions on skin cancer recognition and digital dermatology tools.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
* Participate in skin cancer MDTs and contribute to clinical decision‑making.
* Liaise with oncologists, plastic surgeons, and radiologists to coordinate care.
* Support research and audit activities related to skin cancer and teledermatology.
This role combines advanced clinical practice with digital innovation to enhance early diagnosis, streamline care pathways, and improve patient outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications (Essential)
* Registered Nurse with active NMC registration
* Masters level qualification relevant to role
* Postgraduate qualification at Masters level in advanced clinical practice demonstrating specialist clinical and leadership skills
* Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, and additional job specific advanced level skills/procedures
* Managerial or Leadership qualification
* Education/Training qualification
* Research/Audit training
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Project management/Quality improvement qualification
* Restorative supervision/Professional Nurse Advocate qualification
Experience (Essential)
* Proven experience in area of expert professional knowledge and skills
* Demonstrated experience/project leadership of quality/service improvement, project management, leadership, people management
* Innovative and inspiring leadership and clinical practice
* Research or audit education and training
Experience (Desirable)
* NHS experience or relevant healthcare organisation

* Leadership skills demonstrating the ability to manage self and lead others, motivate and inspire a team
* Operational management of a team/service, allocate and manage staff, organise placements, support learners, provide supervision and line management responsibilities, record keeping, promote staff wellbeing and manage performance
* Clinical skills and knowledge relevant to the role with ability to practice independently
* Ability to make operational judgements and manage competing priorities and professional opinion

* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (for domiciliary community role) and ability to travel between sites
