Job Title: Principal Or Senior Structural Engineer
Location: Ivybridge, Devon
Salary: Principal: GBP40,000 - GBP55,000 per annum
Senior: GBP32,000 - GBP40,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent with an initial six-month probation period
Working hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday (part-time also considered)

We seek a Principal or Senior Structural Engineer to join our friendly team based in Ivybridge, Devon, working on a diverse range of exciting and challenging Structural Design and Inspection projects across the beautiful Southwest region.
The Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical and professional leadership as well as supporting others in the delivery of a range of structural engineering design works including the following:
1. Designing and detailing structures including reinforced concrete and steel frames, masonry structures, timber design, retaining walls and basements, structural alterations and refurbishment work.
2. Assessing existing structures for condition, suitability, and potential adaptation or reuse.
3. Interpreting architectural and M&E layouts to develop coordinated structural designs.
4. Preparing and checking technical reports such as structural assessments, design reports, and structural condition surveys.
5. Ensuring projects comply with current codes and regulations including Eurocodes and British Standards.
6. Promoting health and safety culture, ensuring all works comply with H&S requirements and industry best practices.
7. Producing and assisting with fee proposals and tender documentation.
8. Collaborating with civil and geotechnical departments to deliver integrated projects.
9. Attending site visits for inspections, surveys, meetings, and monitoring construction works.
10. Engaging with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities, and stakeholders to meet project requirements.
Requirements
About You:
1. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (MEng / BEng / BSc).
2. Chartered status with an accredited body is preferred but not essential if you have sufficient experience.
3. Minimum 4-5 years of relevant experience; less may be considered for the right candidate.
4. Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Masterseries.
5. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, either as lead or supporting engineer.
6. High standards, attention to detail, and good communication skills.
7. Competent in Microsoft Office.
8. Committed to CPD and industry innovation.
9. Full driving license.
Beneficial but not essential:
* Hold a current CSCS card.
