College/Executive Group London College of Communication

Department/Team Design School

Location LCC - Elephant and Castle, London UK

Grade Hourly Paid Lecturer

£61.88 per hour of teaching and associated duties (enhanced)

We would like to appoint associate lecturers who possess expertise in the areas of Editorial Design, Interaction Design, Emerging Technologies, Coding, Physical Computing and Motion Graphics. These subjects play a key role in the programmes within the Design School and we are particularly excited to hear from practitioners or researchers working these fields.

As an associate lecturer, you will have the opportunity to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses across the Design School, through core teaching across units and/or one-off or shorter-term workshops. Our curriculum spans a wide range of disciplines; you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students in relation to contemporary design practice. Your expertise and passion for your subject area will help delivery exceptional learning journeys for our students.

Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of a unit or part of a unit. In addition to teaching, you will be involved in administrative tasks related to the delivery within your specialism. Collaborating closely with other academic staff, including Programme Directors, Course Leaders and Year Coordinators will be an integral part of your role. In your work with the Design School you will provide high-quality learning experiences, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.

About you

You should have experience in art and design education at university level, although this could be an entry-level position, so we are excited to meet people looking to start their career in higher education. You should be engaged with contemporary design and technology and have an active research or professionally-based practice that you can draw on in your teaching and learning role. An interest in the social role and impact of design as well as an industry network in your chosen specialism could be valuable additional attributes you bring to the post.

If you have any specific queries about this role please contact Henrietta Ross – h.ross@lcc.arts.ac.uk.

You must be resident in the UK to be considered for Associate Lecturer vacancies.

As part of this, you will need to provide a supporting statement to demonstrate your suitability. Our recruitment process involves: application, shortlisting, assessment/interview, offer, onboarding.
