Join Our Dynamic Development Support Team!
Stratford-on-Avon District Council is looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Administrator to become an integral part of our busy and committed Development Support Team.
In this role, you’ll provide essential administrative support across multiple service areas, with a key focus on Planning, helping us deliver exceptional service to our community.
Reporting to the Development Support Team Leader and Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our operations—handling enquiries from the public with confidence and professionalism and ensuring tasks are completed accurately and with integrity.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a team environment, brings practical office administration experience, and demonstrates strong communication and IT skills. You’ll need to be adaptable, able to prioritise your workload effectively, and build positive relationships with colleagues at all levels.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

* Deliver essential support for key areas including Planning, HS2, Appeals, Building Control, Enforcement, Licensing, and Section 106 obligations.
* Be the first point of contact for internal and external enquiries via Teams, phone, email, and letter—taking ownership to resolve issues effectively.
* Play a vital role in decision-making processes by providing admin support for Planning Committees, Regulatory Committees, Appeal Hearings, and Inquiries.
* Ensure accuracy and compliance by producing Land Charge Searches and supporting enforcement activities.
* Drive improvement by contributing to the development and implementation of better work processes across the team.

* Strong foundation – Minimum of 4 GCSEs (including Maths and English) or equivalent experience.
* Excellent communicator – Fluent spoken English, confident telephone manner, and proven ability to engage with customers at all levels.
* Tech‑savvy and organised – Skilled in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and adaptable to new systems, with great administration and organisational skills.
* Customer‑focused team player – Friendly, optimistic, and committed to delivering outstanding service while working collaboratively and independently.
* Flexible and proactive – Able to manage tasks effectively, learn new processes, and provide cover when needed.
Note for internal staff
The fixed term post is offered as a secondment opportunity, allowing employees to return to their original post at the end of the secondment period. All parties must agree to the secondment, so please ensure that your Line Manager is supportive before applying. Full agreement from all parties must be confirmed in writing for the secondment to proceed, therefore candidates must have written agreement from their Manager before making an application.
