Co-Opted Governor Vacancy – Little Hill Primary School
Do you want to make a difference to children's lives and contribute to the success of a local school?
Little Hill Primary School, in Wigston, currently has a vacancy for a co-opted governor to join our governing body.
About the role
School governors are volunteers who work as part of a team to support the strategic leadership of the school. Governors do not run the school day to day – that is the responsibility of the Headteacher and staff – but they play a vital role in ensuring that every child receives the best possible education.
As a co-opted governor, you will:
* Contribute to setting the vision, ethos, and strategic direction of the school.
* Hold leaders to account for the educational performance of pupils and the effective management of staff.
* Oversee the school's financial performance and ensure resources are used well.
* Support and challenge leaders, acting as a critical friend.
What we're looking for
You don't need to be an expert in education. We welcome people from all backgrounds who can bring different skills and perspectives to the role. We are particularly interested in people with experience in areas such as:
* Finance and business management
* HR and staff development
* Safeguarding and wellbeing
* Education, training or youth work
* Community engagement
Most importantly, we are looking for someone with commitment, curiosity, and the willingness to make a positive impact on the lives of children and young people.
What's involved
Governors serve a four-year term of office. The role involves attending three full governing body meetings per year, plus three committee meetings and occasional school visits. You will also be expected to undertake training, which is fully provided and supported.
What we offer
In return, you will:
* Gain valuable board-level experience.
* Develop new skills and knowledge.
* Be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to children's futures.
