Caretaker (with cleaning responsibilities)
37 hours per week, split shift (6.00am – 9.30am, Monday to Friday and 2.00pm – 6.00pm Monday to Thursday, 2.00pm – 5.30pm Friday). Actual hours can be negotiated.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hardworking, reliable and committed caretaker to join our friendly team at Hursthead Infant School. The Governors wish to appoint a motivated individual who is highly organised, proactive, flexible and prides themselves on meticulous attention to detail.
Key responsibilities
* Work flexibly with colleagues within a strong team
* Communicate positively and effectively with children, staff, parents and contractors
* Meet constant challenges with determination and resilience
* Organise and prioritise own workload
* Be pro-active and contribute to wider school life
* Secure the site and operate systems such as intruder and fire alarms
* Clean to a high standard
* Carry out general maintenance duties and minor repairs
* Key holder responsibilities
* Maintain effective communication with the school team and liaise with contractors
* Keep accurate and effective records
* Prepare/set up for school events including out-of-hours meetings and performances
Requirements and qualities
* Hardworking, reliable and committed with a flexible approach
* Highly organised, proactive and able to work well under pressure
* Ability to work as part of a team and communicate with children, staff, parents and contractors
* Willingness to work late on occasions to accommodate events and respond to emergencies
* Strong attention to detail and good time management
Hours, terms and conditions
There will be a requirement to work late on certain evenings to accommodate school events as well as to respond to emergency call outs in unsociable hours. We are happy to discuss flexible working with the right candidate.
