The job itself
Term-time plus 5 training days (195 days), permanent contract.
We have an exciting vacancy within our team to work as a Cover Supervisor playing a vital role supervising classes in the absence of subject teachers; you will need to be able to adapt and be flexible in your way of working as no two days are the same.
The Role
The primary focus of this role is the supervision of classes in the absence of their timetabled subject teacher. This might be pre-planned, but is often a short notice assignment. Cover Supervisors are provided with work planned for the lesson and are responsible for ensuring students remain on task and make progress using that material.
In addition, you will also:
1. Undertake duties around the school site, for example at break time
2. Support school tutoring programmes during extra-curricular time
3. Have the opportunity to have your own tutor group (timetabling dependant)
4. Have the opportunity to support extra-curricular visits and groups

You will have the opportunity to develop your classroom management practice, either as someone looking to step into teaching or with an interest in other areas of Education. This is a great role to work within lots of different subjects and classroom dynamics.

6. Good supervisory skills
7. Ability to follow procedures

*Please note that if the commencement date of your employment is part way through a school year, your annual leave entitlement in your first year of employment in a term time post will be pro rata to the actual number of days worked in the school year up to 31 August.
This means that payroll will adjust your pay in the first year by creating a term time adjustment that will amend pay to the correct level over the remaining months to 31 august to ensure you are not overpaid for the leave you have not accrued.
