Job Title: Deputy Clinical Lead
Reports to: Clinical Lead
Location: The Hub / Blossom / outreach locations
Hours: 37.5
Salary: 31,100
Contract: 3 years
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight & Support
* Provide professional advice to practitioners and volunteers during complex or high‑risk situations.
* Offer joint or second‑opinion assessments where required.
* Ensure consistent, safe clinical practice across settings and teams.
* Support crisis response and escalation decisions.
Deputising for the Clinical Lead
* Act as the designated clinical contact in the absence of the Clinical Lead.
* Assist in oversight of clinical governance, risk management, and safeguarding processes.
* Support decision‑making regarding risk, referral pathways, and inter‑agency communication.
Service Development & Governance
* Contribute to the development and review of risk protocols, assessment tools, and suicide prevention pathways.
* Assist with annual audits, quality assurance, and development of standard operating procedures.
* Help evaluate service data and identify improvements based on learning and clinical trends.
Training & Workforce Development
* Support the induction of new staff and volunteers, including orientation to clinical processes.
* Assist in delivering internal training and reflective practice sessions.
* Promote a culture of trauma‑informed, compassionate practice.
Direct Clinical Work
1. Provide assessments, safety planning, crisis support, and ongoing mental health.
2. Hold a small caseload of individuals requiring enhanced support.
3. Deliver group or community‑based sessions where appropriate.
Documentation & Communication
* Maintain clear, accurate, and timely clinical records.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding, GDPR, and internal governance frameworks.
* Build effective relationships with NHS, Public Health, schools, and VCSE partners.
General Responsibilities
* Uphold the values and ethos of Humber Wellbeing Services.
* Maintain professional registration (if applicable) and engage in CPD.
* Attend supervision, team meetings, and training as required.
* Work flexibly across sites and occasional evenings/weekends if needed.
PERSON SPECIFICATION – Deputy Clinical Lead
Qualifications (Essential):
* Relevant mental health, social care, counselling, therapy or nursing qualification; OR significant experience in suicide prevention/mental health practice.
* Professional registration (e.g., NMC, HCPC, BACP, BABCP).
Experience (Essential):
* Extensive experience supporting individuals in crisis, including suicide risk assessments and safety planning.
* Experience working with vulnerable adults/young people.
* Experience providing advice or guidance to colleagues.
* Experience delivering reflective practice or supervision.
* Experience contributing to service development or policy.
Knowledge (Essential):
* Strong understanding of suicide prevention, self‑harm, trauma, mental health presentations, and risk management.
* Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and multi‑agency working.
* Knowledge of community or VCSE service models.
Skills (Essential):
* Ability to assess and respond to risk confidently and compassionately.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to guide and support colleagues.
* Ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions.
* Excellent documentation and organisational skills. Group facilitation or training delivery skills.
