The role
As a Commercial Specialist, you’ll play a key role within our UK Aviation business—supporting the Senior Commercial Manager across high‑profile Joint Venture contracts. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to programmes of national importance, helping deliver innovative commercial solutions while shaping how the UK’s military aviation capability is sustained. Your work will have a meaningful impact on operational readiness, stakeholder collaboration and long‑term strategic delivery, while accelerating your own development in commercial leadership
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Managing end‑to‑end commercial and contract activities across major aviation programmes
2. Supporting governance, negotiations and commercial decision‑making to deliver change on time, to cost and quality
3. Providing commercial and legal insight that protects Babcock’s interests and informs senior leadership
4. Building trusted relationships across customers, suppliers, JV partners and internal stakeholders
5. Ensuring high‑quality commercial data is communicated effectively for strategic alignment.
This role is full time, working 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements within the UK.
Essential experience of the Commercial Specialist:
6. Experience in contract delivery and management in either a commercial organisation or the public sector
7. Experience working collaboratively within cross‑functional teams
8. Confidence presenting to a wide range of internal and external audiences.
Qualifications for the Commercial Specialist:
9. Degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience in a commercial discipline (Desirable)
10. Knowledge of NEC4, PFI contracting or Joint Venture environments (Desirable)
11. MCIPS/WCC Qualification (Desirable)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
