Job Summary
The Longmoor team are recruiting Health Care Assistants for full‑time hours. The role operates in a fast‑paced community service that responds to planned calls and visits individuals in their homes, clinics or GP surgeries under the direction of a registered professional. Staff work in partnership with patients, carers and other health and social care agencies to promote independence and support the development of the service.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct patient care and support to individuals in their homes or in clinic settings.
* Assist the multidisciplinary Community District Nurse team across evening shift hours (6 pm‑10:30 pm) and, where required, across both teams covering Birmingham.
* Collaborate with other team members, carers and external agencies to ensure coordinated care.
* Document care activities accurately and follow clinical protocols.
* Respond flexibly to shifts across the seven‑day period, including weekends and bank holidays.
Person Specification
* Qualifications / Training: NVQ Level III in Health and Social Care or equivalent; literacy and numeracy skills.
* Experience: Delivery of direct patient care or therapy programmes in a health or social care setting.
* Skills / Knowledge:
o Excellent communication skills.
o Basic IT skills.
o Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
o Awareness of the needs of a multicultural, socially diverse population.
* Personal Qualities: Awareness of the needs of individuals’ minority groups.
* Essential:
o Car driver.
o Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
Other Requirements
* Valid, current driving licence and ability to travel independently across the BCHC area.
* Ready to work both independently and as part of a broader multidisciplinary team.
Compensation & Contract
Pay Scheme: Agenda for Change
Band: Band 3
Salary: £24,937 – £26,598 per annum
Contract: Permanent
