Do you enjoy working with people with mental health difficulties on goals that support their recovery?

Do you have experience working clinically in a mental health setting?

There is a fantastic opportunity for an HCPC registered individual to join the Sandford Ward in Oxford as an Occupational Therapist, working with male adults of the age of 65 and over who are experiencing mental health challenges.

Successful candidates must be confident in their assessment and clinical reasoning skills, be able to manage their time effectively and be a proactive member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Excellent communication skills are required and the ability to be adaptable, flexible and creative when working with people with varying levels of need.


Main duties of the job

Responsibilities of the role include:

* To carry out the initial screening and assessment of all service users admitted to the ward and to undertake intensive short-term treatment where appropriate.
* To manage a caseload of clients with complex OT needs, using evidence based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in the ward and community settings and on home visits.
* To be responsible for monitoring and evaluating treatment plans, transferring service users to the AMHT / CMHT, other teams within the Trust, or third sector organisations when appropriate

Job responsibilities

Person Specification


Training/Qualifications

* BSc/MSc Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registration
* Additional Sensory Training e.g ASI Wise
* Evidence of mental health specific post registration training e.g PSI, AMPS
* Membership of RCOT and any additional speciality sections


Experience

* Two years post registration experience in a clinical setting
* Evidence of working with mental health service users in a clinical role
* Evidence of working within a multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of supervising and developing junior members of staff and/or students
* Experience of taking part in audits and/or service improvement work


Knowledge

* Knowledge of Occupational Therapy models of practise
* Broad knowledge of the application of occupational therapy in mental health
* Ability to apply the Model of Human Occupation
* Ability to relate knowledge of physical health to a mental health setting
