About the Role
As the School Meals Business Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing the catering service, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and working collaboratively with schools to provide outstanding meal programs. Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the day-to-day management of the catering service, ensuring it meets the School Meals Standards.
* Develop and implement effective strategies to enhance the catering service in support of school activities.
* Write and produce insightful reports that drive informed decision-making and promote positive outcomes.
* Manage procurement of goods and services, ensuring value for money while maintaining quality.
* Lead and support staff, handling recruitment, sickness, capability, and grievance processes efficiently.
* Organize resources effectively to meet service priorities and deadlines.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
* Proven experience in a Catering Service, ideally related to school meals, at a managerial or supervisory level.
* Strong knowledge of statutory legislation on health and safety and School Meals Standards.
* Demonstrated experience in writing reports that inform decision-making.
* A track record in developing catering services aligned with school activities.
* Expertise in procuring goods and services for effective service delivery.
* Experience in managing staff and organizing resources.
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong organizational, planning, and management skills to meet Service Level Agreements.
* Ability to work under pressure and prioritize competing tasks effectively.
* Exceptional communication skills to influence stakeholders and deliver high-quality service.
* Proficient IT skills, with an understanding of how technology can modernize services.
* Ability to analyze financial data and performance reports for service improvement.
Education and Qualifications
* An appropriate professional catering qualification.
* In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, food safety regulations, and school food standards.
* Understanding of the principles of the specialist area and working knowledge of disciplinary procedures.
