The KTP project will enable DeltaXignia to augment their Compare and Merge software capability by leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI). Their current offer is built using mathematical algorithms to determine precise differences in content and data. The processing engine works at scale, speed and can tackle size/volumes of content/data.
Candidate Profile
A minimum of a MSc Degree in Computer Science.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience in data mining, machine learning (including deep learning), generative AI (e.g., with Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and reinforcement learning.
* Hands‑on experience with structured data formats, particularly JSON/XML.
* Strong understanding and practical experience with XSLT.
* Proficiency in advanced Java (Java 8+).
* Experience working as part of a software development team.
* Demonstrable experience in data analytics projects, such as automatic data annotation, predictive analytics, and prompt engineering for AI systems.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Technical writing abilities e.g. publication record etc.
* Data Science algorithms and techniques.
* Probability & Statistics.
* Parsing frameworks.
* Deeper knowledge of AI techniques beyond assembling predefined components.
* Background in theory of the techniques and maths that AI uses.
* Good record keeping and documenting skills.
Main Responsibilities
* To assess the viability of using ML techniques in compare and merge (PS3).
* To leverage data rehydration to synthesise datasets (PS1.3 mini‑project and PS2.4), and validate them to ensure they have the same statistical characteristics as the original (PS2.3/PS2.4).
* To deal with a variety of customers' sector‑specific data which will present different semantics and connotations, hence leading to challenging customer‑specific data augmentation /rehydration (PS2) and data mining processes (PS4).
* To handle the project management challenges dealing with multiple stakeholders, meeting project deadlines to professional standards, and ensuring the smooth delivery of all milestones and outputs, as well as integrating and rolling them out into DeltaXignia's workflows with appropriate user training.
* To balance the potential conflicting priorities of technical development and the commercial drivers to deliver a viable product.
* Prototype ideas in code to check their performance including designing and running appropriate tests.
* Listen and help others understand your ideas and clarify their own while demonstrating humility.
Personal Attributes
* Strong interpersonal skills to successfully work with various stakeholders.
* Strong communication and presentation skills. The ability to work within a cross‑disciplinary project team.
* Leadership qualities, maturity, good self‑organisation, and time management skills to deliver agreed milestones and objectives.

* Career focussed.
* Ability to work independently, as well as part of the team and use initiative.
* Strong desire to pursue innovative approaches, adopt new technologies and new data processing methods.
Benefits and Support
* Up to £5,000 for personal and professional development for the duration of the project.
* Annual leave (25 days p/a).
* Professional support and mentorship.
* Mental Health and wellbeing support: https://www.aston.ac.uk/staff-public/hr/Benefits-and-Rewards/health-wellbeing.
Career Prospects
* 60% of our KTP associates are being offered employment by the companies at the end of the KTP.

This is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded by Delta XML Ltd (Trading as DeltaXignia) and Innovate UK. It is essential you understand how KTP works and the vital role you will play if you secure this position. To learn more please visit: www.aston.ac.uk/ktp.
The Company: DeltaXignia are pioneers in comparison and merging solutions, shaping the way organisations manage change since their first product launch in 2001. While their roots are in XML comparison—developed alongside XML’s early days—they’ve grown far beyond. Web page: https://www.deltaxignia.com/.
Aston University: You will work in a project team with Professor Abdul Sadka and Dr Farzaneh Farhadi from Aston University and the Senior Management Team at DeltaXignia with the support of the IUK’s Knowledge Transfer Adviser.
Location: You will be based at DeltaXignia offices in Malvern Worcestershire, but will have access to facilities at Aston University in central Birmingham. Some travel to Aston University and key clients may also be required. Flexible working can be arranged.
