We are supporting our client to find a Production Engineer to join their emerging family run electronics manufacturing business!
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Provide rapid technical support to in-house production teams and subcontract manufacturers to minimise downtime and resolve non-conformances
* Support PCBA and final assembly processes, including test setup, troubleshooting, and occasional test execution
* Assist with root‑cause analysis and structured problem‑solving (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys)
* Create and maintain build documentation, work instructions, and test specifications
* Maintain Bills of Materials (BoMs), concessions, permits, and product changes through the Change Request process
* Produce and update 2D and 3D drawings for manufacturing, tooling, and subcontract requirements
* Ensure team compliance with COSHH assessments and safety responsibilities
* Design and build tooling, jigs, fixtures, and equipment to support efficient production
* Identify and implement process improvements within the department, supporting Lean initiatives such as 5S
* Contribute to the development of new manufacturing processes, test equipment, and test software
Ideal Candidate:
* Knowledge of electronics at component level and the ability to read circuit diagrams, wiring schedules, mechanical drawings, and Gerber files
* Experience in electronic manufacturing & PCBA processes
* Basic test and fault‑finding skills
* Experience using CAD software (2D / 3D) preferred
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently with excellent attention to detail
* Computer literate, with the ability to use all aspects of MS Office
* Awareness of IPC‑A‑610 (desirable)
* Awareness of ESD requirements in the Electronic Industry (desirable)
* Some knowledge of MRP / ERP systems (desirable)
* Understanding of root‑cause analysis tools (desirable)
* Experience with 3D printers or a mechanical engineering background (desirable)
