Senior Rotational Radiographer

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Radiographer to join our friendly and dynamic Imaging team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) in Brighton. UHSussex provides care for 1.8 million service users across Sussex and its borders across five main hospital sites. The Imaging Department is predominantly based in Level 4 of the Louisa Martindale Building, with emergency x‑ray and CT imaging services provided separately in our department on the acute floor.
The Department currently uses Canon and Siemens CT scanners; Siemens and Philips MRI scanners, including a 3T model opening in Spring 2025; and Philips IR suite and hybrid theatre.
The successful applicant will become a core part of our multidisciplinary team, rotating through plain film, fluoroscopy, mobile x‑ray and theatres, while having the opportunity to train in CT, MRI and Interventional Radiology. They will also be able to develop their role in the support and education of junior staff, students and other healthcare personnel.
Main duties of the job
* Work in all areas of Imaging at RSCH, the Royal Alexandra Childrens Hospital (RACH) and Hove Polyclinic (HPC).
* Undertake a wide range of clinical duties to provide a high‑quality imaging service and assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, encouraging and supporting colleagues.
* Ensure the department delivers exemplary service and experience to patients and members of the public.
* Maintain compliance with Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) 2017 and Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) 2017, MRHA MRI safety guidelines and Trust policies.
* Actively participate as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team, including supervising newly qualified and junior staff, assistant practitioners and student radiographers.
* Support the Superintendent Radiographers to ensure the day‑to‑day running of the Imaging Department is smoothly coordinated.
* Participate in the 7‑day extended day and out‑of‑hours rota.
Person Specification
Training, HCPC registration and NHS experience
* HCPC registration.
* Previous NHS experience.
* Experience in trauma and A&E plain film radiography.
* Experience in general radiography including plain film, mobile, theatres and fluoroscopy.
* Experience in cross‑sectional imaging.
* Experience in interventional radiology.
Modality experience
* At least 12 months as a Band 5 radiographer.
* Experience in plain film.
* Experience in CT.
* Experience in IR.
Safety
* Awareness of IR(ME)R 2017.
* Awareness of IRR 2017.
* Awareness of Health and Safety regulations (RIDDOR, COSHH, Health and Safety at Work Act).
