Mō te tūranga | About the opportunity
We are looking for an energetic, passionate, and creative sous chef to join our kitchen team at our cafe and micro-bakery in Addington.
Part of a ground-breaking concept in community connection, the cafe is located in a beautiful, state-of-the-art wellness centre, which includes a gym, event space, and physio.
Natter café is at the heart of the Centre, focusing on making delicious dishes and baking our fresh bread from scratch.
Key responsibilities include :
1. Prepping, baking, and cooking for the café, cabinet, and event catering.
2. Monitoring quality and consistency at all stages of preparation and presentation.
3. Working with the Cafe Manager to design creative menus and maintain effective cost management.
4. Working with the Cafe Manager to ensure the safety and maintenance of the kitchen environment.
5. Confidence to work without supervision occasionally.
6. Following all standards for health and safety in food preparation areas.
7. Work closely with FOH to ensure clear communication and team culture.
8. Attend kitchen meetings, 1:1s, and other operational meetings as required.
9. Our kitchen design is ‘open’, so we require someone well-presented and happy to be customer-facing, working closely with the FOH team.
10. We are looking for someone to work Monday – Friday, 6:30 am - 3 pm.
11. Prefer start date: 2nd week of October 2025.
Qualifications

* Must be a qualified Chef
* Confident and passionate baker
* You will need to have a minimum of three years proven track record of working as a Sous Chef in a similar environment
* Excellent communicator with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
* Reliable with excellent time management
* Passionate about food and self-motivated
* Commitment to work sustainably
* Current NZ Food Safety Certificate
* Must have a valid work visa or NZ resident/citizen
