Senior Corporate Compliance officer.
We are looking for an experienced senior Compliance officer to on an interim basis for 3-6 months, looking at around 550-650 per day. In this role you will be working for a consultancy that works close with industry and construction clients and they are looking for someone to look across the existing program and work with legal director as they look to implement a new firm structure.
Job Summary
Senior Corporate Compliance officer is primarily responsible for overseeing compliance within the organisation, and ensuring compliance with laws, regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures and in addition to the role is responsible for overseeing the group's global data privacy and governance functions. Charged with developing, guiding and monitoring the group’s commitment to ethical standards and regulatory compliance globally, they play a lead role in developing and implementing a framework of corporate governance, data privacy and compliance across the Group ensuring short- and long-term goals are met.
The Senior Corporate Compliance officer will partner with the Legal Director to operate and maintain firm’s management system and drive compliance and preserve legal and ethical standards within the organisation on an interim basis as the firm transitions to a new structure. Working alongside the Legal Director, the interim role will:
* Provide a primary escalation point for all corporate compliance matters.
* Support the firm in its operational objectives, and to meet its obligations and standards globally.
* Ensure and maintain alignment of the firm’s policies & processes with local and global regulatory and legal frameworks.
Role and scope of responsibilities
To work alongside the Legal Director to provide expertise and capacity to deliver the following:
* Maintain the existing global compliance framework, and where required provide structured processes for supporting ethical and compliant behaviour throughout the organisation.
* Oversee and manage global corporate compliance operations.
* Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to maintain regulatory and risk frameworks, controls, policies and procedures to enable effective and transparent decision-making and risk management.
* Provide direction, advice, and guidance to Senior Management, keeping abreast of regulatory changes and best practice.
* If required, assist in resolving any contentious matters arising, including any disputes, complaints or investigations.
* Provide support to internal governance structures as they relate to Audit and Assurance in the testing the effectiveness of compliance controls and procedures.
* Manage whistleblowing matters in line with the relevant local whistleblowing regulations.
* Deliver planned elearning training programs alongside HR.
* Engage with regulatory agencies as required.
* Support the Global Data Privacy Officer Lawyer as they support the governance and the data privacy teams.
* Contribute to internal reporting to relevant Boards and Committees on the effectiveness of the organisation’s compliance programme.
Skills to carry out the role
* Comprehensive expertise & knowledge of Compliance domain/specialism.
* Comprehensive expertise & knowledge of Group Compliance functions good practice, policies & procedures.
* Comprehensive understanding of relevant laws and regulations, and the ability to interpret and apply them to complex business situations.
* Experience in a compliance related role focused around leading on governance and regulatory compliance.
* Excellent communication skills to effectively convey compliance requirements and policies.
* Ability to utilise compliance related platforms and tools to best manage compliance risk.
* Financial accounting and reporting knowledge.
* An understanding of Risk management.
* International governance and compliance experience.
* Working understanding of global built environment consultancy and broader construction industry.
