This is a new post for an adult psychiatrist to provide medical input into the East Adult Community Treatment in Cumbria. The post holder will work with multidisciplinary teams covering the adult population in North-Cumbria, offering senior clinical expertise in the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex mental health issues and at-risk mental states.
The Trust is located in Northeast England and Cumbria, an area of outstanding natural beauty, including national parks, heritage sites, and cities with excellent transport links. The region is mainly rural, with the Lake District National Park, renowned for its natural beauty.

Main duties of the job
This is a 10 PA substantive consultant post providing senior clinical and leadership input in the East and West Adult Community Treatment Teams. The post holder will work alongside experienced consultants, nurses, and other MDT members covering the adult population in North Cumbria. Responsibilities include:
1. Engaging in assessment, diagnosis, and formulation of patients referred to the Community Treatment Team.
2. Delivering clinical excellence.
3. Working effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
4. Promoting patient safety and well-being.
5. Respecting patient rights and dignity.
6. Considering individual and cultural needs of patients.
7. Collaborating with families and carers in line with the Trust Carers' Charter.

Job Responsibilities
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, evidence-based care within the Adult Community Treatment Team. You will support service development through research and multidisciplinary collaboration. The role requires inclusion on the GMC specialist register (or eligibility within 6 months) and Approved Clinician Status or the ability to achieve this within 3 months.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Eligibility:
* MBBS or equivalent
* GMC registration and license to practice
* On GMC Specialist Register (or eligible within 6 months)
* Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 or able to achieve within 3 months
* Approved Clinician Status or able to achieve within 3 months
Desirable Qualifications:
* MRCPsych
* CCT/CESR in Psychiatry
* Postgraduate qualifications
* Training in educational supervision and appraisal
Knowledge & Experience:
* Up-to-date psychiatric knowledge
* Experience in multidisciplinary teams, clinical audit, multi-agency work, and service management
Skills & Personal Characteristics:
* High clinical skills, diagnosis, and management competence
* Excellent communication
* Leadership and teaching ability (desirable)
* Trustworthiness, maturity, openness, flexibility, good organization, punctuality, integrity
