Health and Care Jersey is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic substantive Consultant in Neurology. The successful applicant will provide services in Neurology in conjunction with an Acute Medicine Consultant, a Neurology Middle Grade, and a Neurosurgical Clinical Fellow.
Main Duties
* Jointly develop a service of excellence for neurology, ensuring seamless integration between Jersey and tertiary centres in England.
* Participate in developing the neurology strategy for Jersey.
* Work in close partnership and liaison with Primary Care and other specialist services.
* Undertake inpatient specialist reviews for neurology.
* Lead outpatient clinics for neurology.
* Provide clinical advice & support to primary care colleagues and other consultants within the Health and Care Jersey medical model.
* Deliver personalised, evidence‑informed medical care plans to all patients, appropriately documented and regularly evaluated.
* Provide advice and timely medical reviews and interventions as part of the interdisciplinary care model.
* Participate in relevant MDTs.
* Liaise with tertiary referral centres to improve patient‑centred care and service delivery.
* Maintain high‑quality medical records, including timely discharge letters and summaries.

Responsibilities
The post is linked to the regional Neurosciences Centre at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and to Queens Square, London.
Key responsibilities include:

Person Specification
Essential
* Primary Medical Degree.
* Higher specialty qualification: MRCP or equivalent.
* Full registration with GMC, with a licence to practice.
* Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register/Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) within six months of interview.
* Clinical experience in a similar NHS environment.>
* Evidence of ALS competency.
* Evidence of CCDC training and/or experience.
* Broad IT skills.
* Participation in clinical audit and risk management.
* Safeguarding commitment.
* Annual appraisal evidence.
* Research publication evidence.
* IT literacy.
