Deputy Ward Manager – Cardiac and Medical Day Stay

Main duties of the job
* Co‑ordinate and lead a team.
* Liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team and participate in team decisions.
* Communicate with staff, patients and relatives to promote understanding and progress of treatment.
* Ensure stock levels are maintained.
* Identify professional education needs in the Day Stay/Cath labs through training needs analysis and competency‑based assessments; report and investigate accidents/incidents, complaints and write reports.
* Contribute to the collection and utilisation of clinical data to measure performance targets.
* Take a lead in the assessment and management of patients admitted to catheter labs from the Day Stay and Inpatient wards.
* Be a proficient and autonomous scrub and circulating nurse, competent in angiography and pacing procedures.
* Analyse ECGs, take appropriate action to determine ongoing management, and provide an advanced nursing role in patient care, ensuring evidence‑based practice is implemented.
* Competent in the administration of IV and oral drugs; safely manage patients undergoing moderate sedation in the cardiac catheter labs and the recovery of these patients in the Day Stay.
* Initiate investigations, interpret results, and discharge patients, supported with robust protocols and ICPs and liaising with the Cardiology Consultant/team.

* Immediate Life Support Certificate
* Venepuncture
* Advanced Life Support Certificate
* Cardiac Care Course level 6 or 7
* Leadership or mentorship course or qualification
Experience
* Experience of working in a demanding environment
* Experience of working within a cardiology department
* Experience of co‑ordinating a team or service

£39,959 a year (Pro Rata for Part Time)
