A welcoming and well-established SEN specialist school in Stroud is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a structured, nurturing environment supporting pupils with a range of complex learning needs.
About the Role
You will be working closely with teaching staff to support pupils aged 4–16 with a variety of special educational needs, including ASD, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and communication needs. The role focuses on building positive relationships, supporting emotional regulation, and helping pupils access learning through adapted and individualised approaches.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis within the classroom
* Assisting with differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs
* Encouraging communication, independence, and social development
* Supporting sensory regulation and structured routines
* Working collaboratively with teachers and wider specialist staff
* Promoting a safe, calm and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
* Patient, nurturing and emotionally resilient
* Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
* Confident working within structured routines and supportive environments
* Able to build strong, positive relationships with pupils
* Adaptable and proactive in supporting learning and wellbeing
Candidates with experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant would be highly beneficial, particularly those with a background supporting autism or complex needs. We also welcome applicants from care, youth work, psychology, or wider support work backgrounds, as well as individuals who have experience working within EHCP-led provision, although this is desirable rather than essential.
