Maintenance Engineer – Crewkerne

Job Summary
A well-established manufacturing company is seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join its team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring factory equipment and machinery are efficiently maintained, reducing breakdowns and ensuring safe, smooth production processes.
Key Responsibilities
Perform both reactive and planned maintenance across a range of industrial machinery.
Check, calibrate, and repair instruments to ensure accuracy.
Fit new parts and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults.
Carry out preventative maintenance using technical documentation and schematics.
Operate and service equipment including motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and conveyor systems.
Manage lighting, wiring, alarms, and other electrical systems.
Oversee machine shop repairs and maintain spare part inventories.
Respond rapidly to breakdowns and resolve issues efficiently.
Keep production staff informed of maintenance progress.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Experience & Background
Experience in a maintenance engineering role.
Fault-finding skills within an industrial setting.
Preferably dual-skilled (electrical/mechanical).
Experience in Manufacturing, Plastics, Aerospace, Automotive, or Precision Engineering.
Previous work in foundry environments is beneficial but not essential.
Qualifications
GCSE Grade C or above in Maths & English (or equivalent).
Relevant electrical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds, 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3+).
HNC/HND in Engineering (desirable).
