Job Responsibilities
* Respond to incoming calls and inquiries on the Criminal Injuries Helpline promptly and professionally
* Listen empathetically to callers’ experiences, provide emotional support, and offer relevant legal guidance
* Collect detailed information from callers regarding their criminal injuries, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
* Assess the eligibility of callers for compensation and guide them through the claims process
* Assist callers in completing necessary documentation, ensuring all required information is accurately recorded
* Collaborate with solicitors and legal professionals to gather additional information and evidence when required
* Maintain accurate records of all interactions and case details in our case management system
* Conduct follow‑up calls with clients to provide updates, gather additional information, and address any concerns
* Stay up‑to‑date with relevant laws, regulations, and procedures related to criminal injuries compensation
Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelor’s degree in law, criminal justice, or a related field (preferred)
* Previous experience in a law firm or a helpline role is highly desirable
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively
* Methodical approach to tasks, ensuring attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
* Empathetic and patient demeanour, with the ability to provide emotional support to callers
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with solicitors and other staff members
* Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures related to criminal injuries compensation
* Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of case management software and MS Office Suite
