Salary Scale: £45, to £50, (dependent on experience)

Job Purpose
The St. Johnstone Community Trust is seeking an experienced and values-driven leader to serve as Chief Executive Officer.
The CEO will provide strategic leadership and overall management of the Trust, working closely with the Board of Trustees to deliver the organisation’s mission, ensure long-term financial sustainability, and maximise impact for our beneficiaries.
You will lead and inspire a small, dedicated team, overseeing a diverse portfolio of initiatives across sport, education, and wellbeing, while building strong relationships with partners, stakeholders, and the wider community.
Job Role & Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
1. Lead the development and delivery of the charity’s vision, mission, and long-term strategic plan.
2. Work closely with the Board of Trustees to ensure strategy aligns with organisational objectives and stakeholder needs.
3. Identify opportunities for growth, partnerships, and innovation to maximise impact.
4. Monitor progress against strategic goals and set appropriate performance targets.
Governance & Compliance
5. Ensure the charity operates within its governing document, charity law, and relevant regulations.
6. Support effective governance by providing timely and accurate information to the Board.
7. Develop policy proposals for Board discussion and assist in decision-making.
8. Ensure an annual calendar of Board meetings, including reporting and compliance documentation, is maintained.
Financial Management & Sustainability
9. Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, ensuring income is maintained, expenditure controlled, and risks identified and managed.
10. Lead the development and implementation of income generation strategies, fundraising initiatives, and sustainability planning. Diversify revenue streams to ensure financial sustainability and growth.
11. Build and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, donors, and funding partners to secure resources.
Operational Management
12. Lead, manage, and support senior staff to maximise their contributions and ensure high-quality delivery of programmes and services.
13. Ensure programmes harness the power of sport to promote wider benefits, including education, health, and social inclusion.
14. Develop and maintain effective policies, systems, procedures, and operational controls.
15. Ensure appropriate monitoring and evaluation processes are in place to measure and report the impact of activities.
16. Define and secure the human, material, and financial resources needed for effective operation.
External Relations & Promotion
17. Act as the public face and spokesperson for the charity, representing it at events, conferences, and in the media.
18. Maintain and develop relationships with partners, stakeholders, government bodies, regulators, and other key decision-makers.
19. Seek opportunities to expand and promote the role and profile of the charity.
People & Culture
20. Promote a positive, inclusive, and values-led organisational culture.
21. Ensure effective recruitment, performance management, and professional development for staff.
22. Champion equality, diversity, safeguarding, and the wellbeing of all staff and beneficiaries.
