Our vision is simple - TopHat was founded to deliver beautiful homes, sustainably. We use advanced manufacturing and the latest technology to delivery ultra-low carbon homes, whilst keeping costs as low as possible. We manufacture homes in a controlled environment, removing uncertainties, improving quality and reducing costs. We have extensive experience of delivering projects in different ways to ensure that our customers get the solutions they need. We've built over 600 homes. We are a modular homebuilder; operating in a 125,000 sq ft factory in Derbyshire with construction sites around England showcasing our homes with our valued clients. Health and Safety is at the heart of everything we do. From our manufacturing facility to our site teams installing our homes for clients and customers alike.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure that the sites implement safe operational and equipment installation procedures which identify all relevant hazards
2. Ensure that working practices are safe and comply with Company policies and legislation
3. Review/update and work with current health and safety personnel to ensure the HSE policy and manual are relevant/correct and ensure responsibilities are understood across the Group
4. Establish and monitor HSE business KPIs (e.g. zero reportable accidents) and make recommendations to improve on achievement of KPIs
5. Carry out regular Risk Assessments to check that policies and procedures are being adhered to
6. Create programmes which ensure that all employees receive appropriate level of HSE training
7. Liaise with HR Manager and Technical Training Manager to ensure that HSE forms part of initial induction training
8. Advise on a range of specialist areas, fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases
9. Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances
10. Keep up to date on new legislation and maintain good awareness of any developments affecting the Group
11. Advise the senior management team of changes in legislation and/or operational improvements required
12. Liaise with enforcing authorities as required to ensure the Group is properly and professionally represented
13. To follow, contribute and promote TopHat Health, Safety, Environmental Quality Systems
Experience and Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with the following:
* NEBOSH Diploma Level 5 or above and NEBOSH Fire safety IOSH qualification
* Extensive experience working as a dedicated HSE Manager within construction
* Experience in implementing a QMS framework
* Experience in creating formalised training programmes in HSE
* Ability to lead & positively influence people
* A strong attention to detail
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a good attention to detail
This is an interim role (6 months fixed term contract) - with the potential of it becoming permanent. The role can be based in Derby or M1 Corridor down to the South of England and will require travel to all TopHat sites.
