Assistant Site Manager - Refurbishment (Temporary Contract) Rate: £230 - £240 per day Location: East London Contract: Temporary / Freelance (12 Months) Start Date: ASAP Atkinson Baker Associates are currently recruiting an experienced Assistant Site Manager on behalf of a highly respected and long-established Regional Main Contractor. The Client Our client is a well-known regional leader in both comprehensive construction and complex interior fit-out and refurbishment. They boast a diverse and impressive portfolio, frequently delivering multi-million-pound schemes across the commercial, educational, healthcare, and heritage sectors. They are renowned for their ability to execute logistically challenging projects, often within live or occupied environments, safely and on schedule. The Role We are urgently seeking a capable Assistant Site Manager to join the site management team for a major refurbishment project based in East London. This is a secure, long-term freelance contract scheduled to run for a full 12 months. Working closely with the Senior Site Manager and Project Manager, your duties will include: Site Supervision: Driving the daily progress of trades and sub-contractors to ensure the refurbishment stays strictly to programme. Health & Safety: Acting as a champion for H&S on site, conducting tool-box talks, site inductions, and ensuring compliance with all RAMS. Quality Control: Snagging and ensuring all finishing works and structural alterations meet the client's exacting standards. Logistics: Assisting with site logistics, material deliveries, and safe access/egress on a constrained London site. Reporting: Maintaining accurate site diaries, allocation sheets, and compliance documentation. Requirements Essential: A proven track record operating as an Assistant Site Manager on complex refurbishment or heavy fit-out projects. Essential: Valid SMSTS, CSCS Card, and First Aid at Work certificates. Essential: Strong communication skills and the ability to confidently manage sub-contractors. Desirable: Experience working on refurbishments within live or occupied environments (e.g., educational, healthcare, or active commercial buildings). Availability: You must be available to start immediately (or at very short notice). What's on Offer Rate: £230 to £240 per day. Duration: 1 full year of guaranteed work.
