Overview
We have an exciting oppertunity and are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Bicycle Mechanic to join our fast paced team. This role is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills in the bicycle mechanical field, whilst gaining hands-on experience.
As an Apprentice, you will work closely with our experienced mechanic and learn the ins and outs of bicycle maintenance and repair, contributing to our high standard of service.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the diagnosis and repair of mechanical issues in bicycles under the guidance of qualified mechanics.
* Utilise hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
* Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on various types of bicycles.
* Maintain a clean and organised workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored properly after use.
* Document work performed and communicate effectively with team members regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
* Participate in training sessions to enhance mechanical knowledge and skills.
* Communicate with customers regarding ongoing repairs to their bicycles via e-mail & telephone.
* Assist customers in the purchase of bikes, accessories and services.
* Responsible for answering telephone and taking bookings on in house booking system.
* Using POS system to track stock, create invoices and take payment from customers.
Requirements
* Basic bicycle knowledge is essential, with a keen interest in learning more about the industry.
* Familiarity with hand tools and power tools is highly desirable.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
* A proactive attitude towards learning new skills and techniques in the bicycle trade.
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with team members and customers.
* Must be good with timekeeping.
* A valid driving licence may be beneficial but is not mandatory.
