Simeon Care for the Elderly is a Scottish Charity (SC) providing care to 23 older people. Since, we have supported older people to live an active, meaningful, and purposeful life in a community of care. Simeon offers a small home and a care model that can adapt to meet the physical, social, mental, and spiritual needs of our residents.
We aspire to be a high-quality nursing care home where residents and their families have a sense of security knowing that Simeon will be their home for the rest of their life due to the provision of palliative and end of life care. We work together to create a loving community of care, and help make the last years of life rich, joyful, and rewarding.
Responsibilities
1. Assist the residents in all areas of their daily personal care and hygiene needs according to their personal care plans.
2. Assist with serving meals and encouraging residents with their dietary intake.
3. Engage in conversations to help maintain residents’ sense of identity, upholding dignity at all times.
4. Care for residents during illness and assist in end-of-life care under the supervision of qualified staff.
5. Maintain accurate records of care plans and resident progress.
6. Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance residents' quality of life.
7. Communicate with families during visits and give support where required.
8. Help maintain a safe and clean environment within the care home.
9. Demonstrate a personal commitment to Quality, Health and Safety, and the Environment.
Requirements
10. Experience in elderly care or a similar role is preferred.
11. Strong understanding of patient care principles and practices.
12. Strong communication skills and proficiency in English are essential.
13. Compassionate nature and ability to remain calm in a crisis.
14. Ability to perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting when required.
15. Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable.
As the role involves working in an environment with vulnerable people a PVG certificate will be required. If you are not a member of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme, you will be asked to apply for membership before you can work with us.
