SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance or SC Security Clearance.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Infrequent European travel up to 2 times a year.
LOCATION: Stevenage (60% of your working week must be office–based).

Role Summary
This role will suit someone at a Professional or Early Careers stage, who has a Data background either in Architecture or Aerospace/Space, and who is eager to learn what important role data plays when developing satellites.
Due to increased workload, we are looking for a socially skilled Database Architect who will be integrated into 1–3 projects and join a small Stevenage team of professionals who are part of a larger transnational team. Being in contact with a wide range of departments, most Stevenage based, means face‑to‑face meetings and maybe a cuppa will be welcomed.
You will be looking after the Systems Engineering Database (SEDB) that acts as a central hub of engineering data, providing a single source of truth for the Avionics design.
How you will Contribute to the team
* Work on projects like ARIEL, Aeolus‑2, ExoMars Rover (and more) for ESA and the UK MOD, within a Scrum environment.
* Tailor architecture to project needs based on the framework of the product, or based on heritage / legacy situations.
* Populate the database via data import functions, manual entry or scripting.
* Ensure consistency of the overall Systems Engineering database content and performing of validation, including transnational harmonisation.
* Project management of the SEDB work package in terms of schedule, cost, risk, plus management of changes, and issues.
* Team management of the DB team and/or subcontracted work packages in case of larger projects.
About You
* Experience in data management and organisation within an aerospace/space environment.
* Programming skills with Java, C++, or similar object‑oriented languages alongside version control systems (SVN, Git, …).
* Basic knowledge of project management principles.
* Experience of prioritising tasks based on information rather than how loud someone is being.
* Capability to dissect a complex problem into manageable parts, and to ensure its solution in an autonomous way.
* Interested in AI and bringing ideas to the table to shape processes and new ways of working.
