The Role
As a Principal Naval Architect you will use your excellent understanding of hydrodynamics and engineering to support the team in solving our customers’ important problems. The programme of work you will be leading is strategically important for our customer, and your knowledge and skills will allow us to adapt the delivery of mission critical capabilities and understand, confront and overcome new challenges.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide leadership and strategic oversight over several areas of the business. You will also technically support the free running and captive model experiments within the company's world-class Haslar facilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Effectively leading the engineering and technical activities of the programme
* Technically lead and deliver hydrodynamic model experiments
* Ensuring projects / programmes are delivered to agreed quality, timescales and budget
* Creating, modifying and implementing code to allow mathematical modelling assessments to be undertaken
* Ensuring high levels of safety and governance are applied to all projects / programmes
Essential experience of the Principal Naval Architect:
* Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
* Strong understanding of hydrodynamics or adjacent skills
* Previous coding experience, preferably with MATLAB, Simulink, or Python
Essential qualifications for the Principal Naval Architect:
* BEng / MEng in Aeronautical Engineering or Naval Architecture, or a relevant engineering discipline

Our marine technology offers our global customers a service to deliver constrained hydrodynamic model tests of surface ships, submarines, offshore structures, and renewable energy devices.
