Responsibilities
* Provide patient‑centred care aligned with the Trust vision and Nursing and Midwifery strategy.
* Deliver the highest standard of safe, effective and compassionate care through evidence‑based practice.
* Support a continuously improving service in line with the clinical governance framework, Trust objectives and the NHS performance framework.
* Continuously develop professionally to meet the service and specialty requirements.
* Assist healthcare professionals in delivering care.
* Assess patient conditions through basic observations and act accordingly.
* Make judgments involving straightforward job‑related facts or situations.
* Recognise triggers on National Early Warning Scores, including maternity and neonatal early warning scores, and act accordingly.
* Recognise signs of patient deterioration and alert qualified staff.
* Perform clerical duties associated with the efficient management of the outpatient and day assessment unit area (e.g., pulling, checking and preparing case notes and x‑rays; maintaining, topping up and monitoring stock levels; entering data onto ICE, TrakCare and Badgernet; assisting the Ward Clerk and covering when needed).
* Be aware of health education and public health objectives such as breastfeeding, smoking cessation and alcohol avoidance in pregnancy.
* Carve out competence in delegated wound‑care duties after appropriate training and competency assessment.
* Provide support to vulnerable patients in accordance with trust safeguarding procedures.
* Initiate or respond to emergency situations.
* Promote and maintain a culture where staff actively contribute to the clinical governance agenda.
* Be proactive in risk assessment, clinical incident reporting and in participating in root‑cause analysis when required.
* Continuously promote the importance of the patient experience within the team and actively seek views of patients and carers during the evaluation and development of care delivery.
