Overview
The League of Friends has four shops within the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and a new position has arisen for a shift leader. The job involves opening/closing a shop at the beginning or end of the day, leading the shift and ensuring that the shop is correctly stocked and properly run.
Background in retail or catering is preferred, but training will be given to the successful candidate. Applicants must be flexible and will be expected to work evening/weekend shifts.
Position is at least a permanent 12 hours per week (2 x 6 hour shifts), plus covering long term sick of another 10 hours (2 x 5 hour shifts).
The shifts for this position are as follows...
* Monday: 11:00am - 4:00pm (sick cover)
* Tuesday: 1:30pm - 7:30pm (permanent)
* Wednesday: 11:00am - 4:00pm (sick cover)
* Sunday: 9:30am - 3:30pm (permanent)
However a chance to do extra hours covering other shifts (as required) is regularly available.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and manage a team of volunteers during assigned shifts.
* Communicate effectively with team members and main office.
* Ensure excellent customer service by assisting customers and resolving any issues.
* Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures.
* Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed.
* Train new team members/volunteers on company policies and procedures.
* Maintain a clean and organised work place.
* Handle card and cash transactions and ensure accuracy in cash handling.
Experience & Qualifications
* Previous experience in retail management or a similar leadership role preferred
* Strong time management skills to effectively prioritise tasks.
* Ability to manage and motivate others to achieve smooth running of the shop.
* Well mannered & excellent communication skills to handle customer inquiries or complaints.
* GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
* Retail sales: 1 year (preferred)
* Supervising experience: 1 year (preferred)
* Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
* Retail management: 1 year (preferred)
