Overview
This is a prime opportunity for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join our modern and forwards thinking Foundation Trust which is a medium sized Trust with big ambitions. The post includes obstetric commitments in fixed Labour Ward sessions, Elective Section List, and on-call duties, with gynaecology duties covering general clinics and theatres. The post aims to deliver high quality services in both Obstetrics & Gynaecology for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Out of hours on-call component for the post is non-resident and is mainly based at Bassetlaw District General Hospital. DBTH is one of Yorkshire\'s leading acute trusts, serving a population of more than 440,000. The Trust supports flexible working and equal opportunities for all applicants.
Responsibilities
* Work with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the Trust agenda in delivering evidence-based best practice.
* Provide safe, evidence-based obstetric and gynaecology services.
* Maintain and improve the standards and quality of obstetrics and gynaecology services with delegated clinical management in those areas.
* Supervise and train resident doctors in both elective and emergency situations.
* Maintain skills and update knowledge base meeting Continuing Education and Professional Development requirements of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
* Participate in the audit programme of the department.
* Participate in the Consultants rota in conjunction with other Consultants.
* Be prepared to work on all sites for elective and emergency work.
* Provide responsibility for resource utilisation and contribute constructively to the success of the service.
* Comply with revalidation requirements.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Competent in management of labour ward and diabetic antenatal clinics.
* Gynaecological duties covering general clinics and theatres; obstetric commitment via fixed Labour Ward sessions, Elective Section List, Antenatal Clinics and On-Call.
* Ability to work with the multi-disciplinary team and deliver evidence-based practice.
* Maintain and improve service standards and participate in departmental governance and audits.
* Willingness to work across all Trust sites for elective and emergency work.
* Be aware of and comply with NHS revalidation requirements.
Employment Checks, DBS and ESR
* All employment with the Trust is subject to NHS employment checks including verification of identity, eligibility to work in the UK, references, qualifications, professional registration, a disclosure and barring service check, and occupational health check if required.
* The Trust currently passes the DBS check cost to the successful applicant, payable in two instalments at commencement.
* In submitting an application, you authorise the Trust to confirm any previous NHS service details via ESR IAT if appointed.

* Out-of-hours on-call for this post is 1:7 at the Bassetlaw site (Category A) with related on-call entitlements; there are 60 consultant hours in Labour Ward at Doncaster (DRI) and 48 at Bassetlaw (BDGH). Daytime LW cover includes registrar and FY2-ST2 input.
* The post is based mainly at Bassetlaw District General Hospital for non-resident on-call.
