Lead Enterprise Architect (Applications) – FTC 12 months
Location: Royston or London Hub, UK
Employment type: Fixed‑term contract (12 months)
Johnson Matthey is looking for a Lead Enterprise Architect to shape the global application strategy, support long‑term transformation and enable enterprise‑wide IT cost optimisation.
Principal Accountabilities
* Lead the development and execution of a global application strategy and roadmap that aligns with Johnson Matthey’s transformation objectives.
* Drive application rationalisation using portfolio assessment techniques such as TIME analysis.
* Maintain a portfolio‑level view of enterprise applications, identifying overlaps, gaps and opportunities for consolidation.
* Create and maintain conceptual designs and architecture artefacts to support governance.
* Represent architecture in governance forums including Architecture Review Boards, ESG meetings, and business steering meetings.
* Work closely with Solution Architects and Platform Leads to align individual platform strategies with the global roadmap.
* Ensure solutions comply with technical governance, data security and regulatory requirements.
* Conduct risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies.
* Act as a trusted advisor to Business IT Directors, Platform leads and senior stakeholders.
* Drive reusable architecture assets and promote innovation through Design Thinking and Lean Startup principles.
Qualifications
* Extensive experience defining and tracking architecture KPIs (e.g., application rationalisation metrics, TCO reduction).
* Significant industry and IT experience with IT Security knowledge.
* Lead cross‑functional teams and senior stakeholder management.
* Experience as an IT architect in a multinational organisation.
* Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and ArchiMate.
* Strong technical knowledge across infrastructure, applications and system integration.
