About the Role
Are you ready to play a key role in one of the UK’s most ambitious low-carbon energy projects? Join us at Hinkley Point C and help shape the future of sustainable power. We’re looking for a skilled Commissioning Engineer (HVAC) to bring their expertise to a once-in-a-generation opportunity—overseeing the commissioning of HVAC systems, with a focus on chilled water systems, at the UK’s first new nuclear power station in decades.
The Opportunity
At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
As a Senior Commissioning Engineer (HVAC), you’ll be part of a growing team responsible for preparing and delivering the commissioning of complex HVAC systems. From early-stage planning to hands-on testing and analysis, your work will directly support the safe and efficient operation of HPC. You’ll collaborate with designers, contractors, and project teams to ensure commissioning processes are robust, safe, and aligned with international best practices.
Pay, Benefits & Culture
The salary range associated with this role is from £65,000, we’re also open to considering less experienced candidates, with the salary reflecting the level of skills and experience you bring to the role. We offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle. We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.
At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.
Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.
We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be responsible for developing and managing commissioning documentation and test programmes that validate HVAC systems, ensuring they meet the highest safety and performance standards. Your input will shape the design and layout of systems to optimise commissioning efficiency and effectiveness.
As the project progresses, you’ll take ownership of a suite of commissioning tests, working closely with contractors and site teams to execute them safely and successfully. You’ll supervise on-site activities, analyse test results, and provide clear, insightful reports that demonstrate system readiness.
Your work will be vital in ensuring compliance with nuclear, environmental, and industrial safety regulations. You’ll help define and control interfaces with other teams, contributing to a collaborative and safety-first culture across the project.
Who You Are
You bring hands-on experience in HVAC commissioning, particularly with chilled water and refrigeration systems. Your strong foundation in mechanical, industrial, or process engineering is backed by a proven track record of delivering technical work on major projects.
You thrive in safety- and quality-focused environments and are confident communicating complex ideas clearly to a range of stakeholders. Your problem-solving skills are second to none, and you’re comfortable navigating the challenges of a dynamic, high-profile infrastructure project.
You hold a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline and ideally have CIBSE or CSA accreditation, along with F-gas qualifications. Most importantly, you’re ready to make a meaningful impact on the UK’s energy future.
Closing date for applications is 29th July, interviews will follow shortly after.
