Project Buyer

The Role
This position supports the bid and sales teams by providing cost information for new business proposals, aiding key projects during delivery, and assisting in the procurement of subcontracts and equipment.
Key Activities
1. Collaborate within a cross-functional team (Procurement, Sales, Bid Team, Engineering, Quality, Legal, etc.) to lead supplier selection and contract award processes.
2. Support the Bid Team in preparing cost data for proposal submissions to prospective clients.
3. Assist operations teams during project delivery of secured contracts.
4. Conduct tender analysis and define selection criteria (Supplier Evaluation Matrix).
5. Develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiations to achieve desired outcomes.
6. Create and manage procurement plans and strategies for major projects.
7. Review subcontracts with legal support.
8. Manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure performance in terms of time, quality, and costs.
9. Ensure strict adherence to Bilfinger SE compliance standards and promote their application across departments.
10. Track contract commitments and manage change orders.
11. Monitor KPIs and evaluate capital and revenue options to support decision-making.
Experience & Qualifications
* Proven experience in a senior purchasing role, preferably within a project environment.
* Knowledge of procurement systems and forms of contract (e.g., NEC3, MF1, ICHEME).
* Understanding of plant and equipment management and procurement.
* Experience in change management and continuous improvement processes.
* Ability to work under pressure within a project team to deliver on time and below budget.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (essential).
* Postgraduate or professional qualification in Purchasing or Management (preferred).
