About The Role
Our team:
The Debt Recovery team is part of the Domestic Debt department. It manages debt recovery activities through external agencies, collaborates with other departments to resolve issues preventing debt collection, especially supporting our domestic collections team with customers behind on energy bills. Additionally, the team handles bereavement accounts, insolvencies, and Power of Attorney recordings related to customer accounts.
The role:
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract. As Team Leader, you will oversee daily team management, support team members' performance, development through coaching and training, and succession planning. You will monitor work performance daily, assign tasks, liaise with third-party partners, and seek process efficiencies. Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and supporting audits are also key responsibilities.
The work impacts both the business and customers; accuracy and quality are crucial. We are committed to helping customers manage their debt and seek support where needed.
What you will do:
* Manage and develop the team to achieve high performance
* Set and monitor KPIs and objectives
* Conduct monthly 1:1s, mid-year, and year-end appraisals
* Manage absence and performance issues, providing support and coaching
* Collaborate with Training & Quality teams to improve processes
* Stay updated on relevant regulations and ensure compliance
* Become an SME in debt recovery policies and share knowledge
* Manage service levels and support departmental initiatives
* Organize resources to ensure adequate staffing
* Handle escalations and complex customer queries
* Manage relationships with debt collection agencies and third parties
* Be aware of budget and costs related to debt recovery
* Support audits and ensure appropriate actions are taken
* Report on workload and manage resources accordingly
* Perform any other duties as assigned
