Location. Hybrid Working – based remotely but ideally in London approximately twice per month for team days. Additional travel may be required to visit client sites, usually in London but occasionally other places in the UK or abroad.

Role & Responsibilities

As Technical Lead, you are responsible for leading the design, architecture and delivery of technology solutions that support our clients and internal operations. You will act as a senior technical authority across IT projects, shaping end to end solutions and advising on best fit technologies, platforms and configurations for secure, scalable delivery. You will work closely with the Director of Cyber, the IT Systems Specialist and the wider Cyber team to identify the needs of our clients, the capability of our business and manage our technology accordingly. Internally this includes Microsoft Office 365, NinjaOne, CIPP, Qualys, Sophos Central and FreshService. For our clients this might extend to Google Workspace, Citrix, Zoho, VMware, HyperV and Windows infrastructure, plus other software / systems that we utilise for clients and internally from time to time. You will respond to and update tasks via our Helpdesk (on FreshService) including documenting projects and change management.

Primary

IT Support & IT Projects (40%)

You will scope and architect technical solutions, defining standards and implementation plans for projects across cloud, endpoint and infrastructure environments. You will provide IT and security assistance to managed service clients via our Helpdesk, delivering 3rd line support. You will communicate with clients and must demonstrate a keen understanding of their business needs and the context that staff are working in. You will be involved in scoping projects for clients, understanding the problems they are trying to solve, and designing proportionate, appropriate solutions for them. This includes evaluating technical and business requirements to produce scalable, secure architectures aligned with industry best practices (e.g. CIS, CE+). You will design, plan and manage IT projects from start to finish. You will be expected to test, troubleshoot and document projects such that another member of IT could recreate your design, but also such that the client can understand the work you have completed in their environment.

Internally you will be responsible for designing technology solutions for Toro and improving our technology stack to automate processes and improve the offering that we can sell. You may have to provide IT support directly to end users from time to time, assisting them with hardware, software and general systems usage queries, within a mixed Apple Mac and Windows 10 environment. You may occasionally provide direct user support in a predominantly escalated or critical capacity, while driving continual service improvement and process automation. You will maintain a high degree of client service, working within an ITIL framework and adhering to service management principles. You will take ownership of problems and use initiative to troubleshoot user issues, prioritising requests and keeping an audit trail of communications. You will work closely with the other members of the Cyber team, communicate effectively, delegate appropriately and guide the junior members of the team with your experience and expertise.

General Responsibilities

• Helpdesk – proactive infrastructure management for our clients and escalated 3rd line IT support

• Microsoft Endpoint Management (utilised by Toro and clients alike so it is worth having a good working knowledge of this)

• Microsoft Azure Files – utilised by some of our clients so an understanding of this technology would be helpful

• Implementation of client policies and procedures

• Awareness of client internet service provision and backup internet lines where relevant

• Support for switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi controller and Wi-Fi access points and other networking infrastructure as appropriate

• Management of Sophos Central (working closely with our IT Systems Specialist)

• Management of Qualys (working closely with our IT Systems Specialist)

• Overseeing patch management on client endpoints and infrastructure and ensuring this is taking place in a timely fashion, delegating as necessary to other members of the team

• Awareness of client data systems and backups

• Microsoft Office 365 administration and security health checks

• Google Workspace administration and security health checks

• Management of remote sites users, devices and any client provided infrastructure

• Change control via the Helpdesk

• Service delivery, client interface and information security best practice

• Backups and restores – testing

• Server maintenance and upgrades

• Firewall management and maintenance

• Configure DMARK/DKIM and SPF records

• You will work towards qualifications for certified reseller requirements and stay abreast of new technology and products.

• You will lead vendor and supplier engagement, assessing product fit, supporting procurement decisions, and ensuring value for money through vendor management.

• You will research and trial new products/suppliers to ensure ‘best in breed’ recommendations to clients.

• You will help define and evolve our technology stack by evaluating new tools, identifying gaps, and improving long term cost effectiveness for both internal and client environments.

Cyber Security Consulting (20%)

• You will deliver senior-level cyber security consulting to clients, including security health checks, threat analysis, architecture reviews, and remediation recommendations aligned with frameworks like Cyber Essentials or CIS etc.

• You will report on these engagements and must be prepared to document time and activities in a timely fashion.

• You will be expected to monitor your own time and be proactive in scheduling, completing and writing reports relating to client consultancy. Time management is key.

• You will own technical client engagements from a security perspective, working across stakeholders to ensure actionable, risk-aligned outcomes.

Toro Information Security and IT (20%)

• Lead on the architecture, implementation, and continual improvement of Toro’s internal infrastructure and security posture in accordance with best practice security and data protection.

Other (10%)

• You will also support pre-sales solution design and contribute to the technical aspects of client proposals and bids, working closely with senior stakeholders

Secondary

• Ambassador. Be an ambassador for Toro, reflecting the Company's vision, ethos and culture.

• Industry Best Practice. Providing ongoing internal guidance and expertise in regulatory and industry developments related to Security, Cybersecurity, and Data Privacy Protection.

• Third-Party Risk. Ensuring suitable due diligence and oversight of third-party InfoSec risk, and conducting audits as required.

• Thought Leadership. Contribute to Toro’s thought-leadership and industry research relating to cyber security.

• Policies, Procedures, Standards & Training. Assist to develop, enforce and continuously improve Toro’s security policies, procedures and standards through internal audit, assurance (i.e. phishing tests), training and third-party certifications.
