JOB ROLE
To provide functional advice, guidance and support to the business on all matters related to the delivery of an effective assurance programme, ensuring outputs meet customer and regulatory requirements.
The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for providing a 'key' support role to the Quality Manager and acting as their deputy covering agreed delegated duties and being a point of contact in times of their absence.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position requires an individual who is able to plan and lead independent assurance activities across the business provide advice and guidance to the business on quality related matters apply a range of tools and techniques in support of problem solving or improvement activity provide support and guidance in the professional development of their team.
Provides support to the Quality Manager/Senior Quality Manager [where appropriate] in the review of Quality Plans
Provides coaching, advice and support in relation to quality activities in support of overall business delivery
Supports and advises the organisation on planning to meet standards relevant to its activities particularly those specific to new projects and activities
Provides advice and guidance on the findings of independent assurance activities and reports to the organisation on levels of compliance, recommending corrective and preventive actions as appropriate
Reviews achievement of the quality plan and recommends preventive, corrective and improvement actions
Identifies risks and opportunities associated with the organisations processes, products and services
Contributes to the organisations risk and opportunity process at organisation, department and project level, focusing on quality aspects
Identifies risks and opportunities in the supply chain, working collaboratively with supplier organisations to resolve issues and devise improvement plans to assure a sustainable supply chain for the organisation
Ensuring Supplier quality arrangements are reviewed and approved / accepted in accordance with project requirements, including Customer approvals, e.g. up-front manufacturing documentation (QCP's, weld schedules, weld procedures, NDE procedures)
Uses a range of measurement tools and techniques, both qualitative and quantitative, in order to assess and report on the organisation, department or project achievement of its quality plans, goals and target
Utilises a range of appropriate techniques for controlling quality appropriate to the process, product, service and business and regulatory environment
Support the preparation of quality performance data, highlighting issues, trends and making recommendations for improvement. This includes the identification and implementation of relevant continual improvement plans / initiatives both internally and externally (e.g. Customers, Suppliers
Review of enquiry, tender and contract documentation with respect to customers quality requirements and contract specifications, identifying any project specific requirements which fall outside the company quality system
Responsible for effective planning and organisation of resources to deliver on customer promise
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
Science/Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
Desirable:
Chartered member of the Quality Institute and registered on appropriate CPD scheme Approved Auditor qualification (or has demonstrable skills and track record)
Have a proven track record preferably gained within a similar role in the Nuclear or other highly regulated high hazard industry
Good working knowledge of the Nuclear industry and of all relevant quality standards and requirements
Good working knowledge of the Customers quality requirements where appropriate, and
application of ISO9001 (and ISO17025 where relevant)
Ability to investigate events using industry best-practice causal analysis tools
