Main purpose of the role
Ensure that inbound and outbound shipments are processed in a timely manner, with either our forwarders or our customers representatives. Ensuring that any issues are escalated appropriately both internally and externally.
Job responsibilities
•Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the shipping team, providing a safe and effective operation
•Collaborating with departments to provide a high level of service to our customers
•Maintain strong working relationships with the distribution warehouse team, assisting with queries and providing support to resolve customer requests in a flexible manner
•Ensure that all despatches are completed on a daily basis and that accurate freight charges are applied to invoices
•Ensure that imports are completed with the appropriate forwarder and documentation from partner companies is correct to facilitate this
•Provide training and a first point of contact for the Distribution Administrators including management of leave and goals
•Be the first point of escalation for any issues with freight forwarders, couriers or customs
•Maintain awareness of changes to legislation in the areas we ship to and support with changes to process in response to this
•Personify the Group’s Vision, Mission and Values in all activities
•Regularly communicate customer orders with delayed collections to ensure efficient movement of stock and effective use of space
•Represent your department in meetings and projects as required
•Suggest and implement departmental processes and procedures
Educational/Qualifications.
No formal requirements, but strong written and spoken English required as well as ability to carry out basic mathematical calculations e.g. percentages
Knowledge/experience
Thorough knowledge/experience of International Shipping to global markets.
Knowledge and understanding of Commodity/ Tariff Codes
Knowledge and understanding of legal obligations, terms
