Main duties of the job
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) has a busy, complex cardiac and congenital cardiac surgery service. Our large perfusion team plays a key role in supporting safe patient care and achieving some of the best patient outcomes in England. We are seeking expert Senior Clinical Perfusion Scientists (8a) to join our Cardiovascular and Thoracic care group, recognized as a regional centre of excellence.
Successful candidates should be familiar with cardiac surgical techniques on neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients, including cell salvage, point of care blood analysis, ECMO, Percutaneous Hepatic perfusion, and research. We welcome applications from those without clinical exposure in these areas, as we offer comprehensive training.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The cardiac team performs approximately 1800 adult and 400 pediatric procedures annually across five theatres. You must be accredited by the Society of Perfusionists of Great Britain & Ireland and registered with the College of Clinical Perfusionists of Great Britain & Ireland. The role includes additional recruitment and retention premiums, potential relocation support, and enhanced rates for extra shifts.

Person specification
Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
* MSc in Clinical Perfusion Science or equivalent
* Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientists Accreditation
* Full registration with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists
* Experience with adult cardiopulmonary bypass and related techniques
* Familiarity with specialized perfusion techniques such as left heart bypass, cerebral perfusion, VADs, and blood conservation
* Strong perceptive skills to handle complex information
* Flexible, innovative approach aligned with Trust goals
Desirable criteria
* Experience in neonatal, pediatric, and GUCH perfusion
* Paediatric perfusion experience
* Paediatric ECMO training
