Overview
We’re looking for a proactive and commercially minded Buyer to join our manufacturing operation. You’ll be responsible for sourcing materials, components, and services that meet our cost, quality, and delivery requirements. This role is key to keeping production running smoothly, maintaining strong supplier relationships, and supporting continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the procurement of materials, components, and services to support production schedules
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, price, reliability, and capability
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings and secure long-term value
• Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance
• Forecast material requirements in line with production planning and inventory targets
• Maintain accurate purchase orders, records, and system data
• Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to support new product introduction and design changes
• Analyse market trends, material availability, and risks to ensure supply continuity
• Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and supply chain optimisation projects
• Ensure procurement activities align with company policies, standards, and sustainability goals
Requirements
• Experience as a Buyer or Purchasing Officer, ideally within manufacturing or engineering
• Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness
• Ability to read technical drawings or engineering specifications (desirable)
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
• Understanding of supply chain processes, lead times, and inventory management
